earth day ix with AIRSHOW & east nash grass

04.23.2022 - The earth has music for those who listen – Anonymous

To open the Earth Day IX festivities, East Nash Grass Trio, consisting of James Kee, David Greer, and Harry Clark romped through a set of traditional bluegrass standards, with a couple of curveballs from Robert Dylan and other non-normal bluegrass gems. Their performance was a perfect match for the sweet weather that Mother Nature graced us with on Saturday night.

The headliner artists, Airshow, certainly took the Burlappers on a magical mystery tour utilizing bluegrass-type instruments, and creatively weaving their electronic-enhanced instruments into layers and textures that sounded much bigger than a four-piece ensemble- sometimes even venturing into total orchestral-sounding movements on top of rock-solid drums and bass interplay. Airshow-truly a great “groove jam band”!  Catch ‘em if you can!

Our 2022 Concert Series Sponsors were all present and anxious to share their wares and services to the Burlappers - Burning Acre’s principals John Cureton and Emily were on-hand to answer all CBD-related questions. Anderson Marine brought along some unique marine accessories and items from their “BOAT- ique” located inside their Old Hickory, TN dealership, and showed off their Southbay 24’ Pontoon Boat with a Yamaha 150HP Outboard. Center Hill Realty and Chalets had Alivia manning their booth, with lots of CHL logo merchandise and apparel on display. Hurricane Marina reps were present, informing Burlappers about the big changes that are underway at the marina, and informing would-be boaters of the advantages of becoming a member of Suntex’s Boat Club. Cedar City RV of Lebanon, TN had an awesome towable RV on display. Limestone Title and Escrow were not onsite for Earth Day IX, but announce they are opening an office in downtown Smithville at the Casablanca Office Building.  Welcome Aboard, David Webber and Team!

Several vendors were also onsite for Earth Day IX. Crooked Creek Designs, a 2022 Series Vendor, owned by jewelry designer Jane Forkum, showcased her beautiful and unique pieces. Young artists Fae Ilaria and Kuhmali brought their visionary art creations and completed another 2/4’s of the obelisk (during the musical performances) that Chris Fun painted one panel for during the Crawfish Boil. Inspirational work from all these artists! Other vendors onsite include the Appalachian Center for Craft, Edgar Evins State Park, Pearce’s Popcorn, Grateful Welder (Jace) from Rock Island, Grace’s Lumpia, and Tio’s Taco Truck.

All in all, a perfect afternoon/evening for Earth Day IX at Bert Driver’s Burlap Room - from fire pits to the photo booth, craft beers to the arts and foods…and our current trend of raffling free blueberry bushes to our patrons, was there a better place to celebrate Earth Day 2022 than at a nursery?! Next up, Lakefest III, on May 14, 2022 with musical headliner McKinley James Band (formerly Tiger Beats), and opener Jimmy Wayne Garrett Band. You can also join us at the Harvester Event Center on Thursday, May 5 for Jazz Night with Cerulean Soul. More info HERE.
