Under the Cover of October Skies with MTNA and Seth Willoughby

10.25.2023 - A special edition of Bert’s on Wednesday occurred for the first time at The Burlap Room. The gathering was our own version of a mid-week prayer service here at the headquarters for Tree Hugging Dirt Worshippers atop Snow Hill in DeKalb County.

Back in August, University of Tennessee Ag Extension department reached out to us about bringing a tour group to our nursery and concluding their visit with the last stop being Bert Driver Nursery so they could have a craft beer and wander the nursery grounds. UT Extension and Tennessee State University Ag Extension teamed up so both groups combined to take a two-day tour of 10 different nurseries in both Warren and DeKalb Counties, the heart of the nursery industry in Tennessee. We were thrilled to host such a group and after a brief discussion, we concocted the plan that unfolded this evening, back to our roots: craft beer, tacos, and live music in a peaceful and splendid outdoor setting. Most everyone converged on The Burlap Room around 4:30pm just as Seth Willougbhy started his set. The tour group, along with many of both old and new friends made their way to Tio’s Taco Truck, cold beverages, a roaring fire pit, and live roots music as the most languid sunset gave way to a brilliant rising moon.

Children were dancing around the fire as laughter filled the air. My Cup Runneth Over.

The indigo blue sky gave way to purple, pink, and gold.

The mellow tones emanating from the Wisteria Stage was none other than our neighbor to the west, Mr. Seth Wiloughby who has played multiple times at our venues, on every stage going back to 2018. Seth gave an outstanding performance that featured his voice and guitar in unison to cover some great American classics like Otis Redding and Amy Whinehouse to Marshal Tucker and Ryan Bingham. A cross section of our local community came together to celebrate this place we live in and the gorgeous weather we have been blessed with which gives us pause and we move toward All Hallow’s Eve, the forbearance of All Saints Day when the veil between here and there becomes thinner and more transparent as we reach out to our ancestral roots. It’s “The Local Vibe” y’all, don't miss out.
