Good Friday Service at the Harvester

04.07.2023 - A crisp and rainy haze hung on the quiet streets of Smithville early Friday morning, birds chirping, the vivid almost blinding White Dogwoods in bloom ( take note of the flora and fauna happening right now), the backdrop to a somber event turned into a peaceful message of hope and renewal. Yes, for the second time in the Christian Calendar, David Hill, Minister at Webb’s Chapel United Methodist Church conducted a fitting service for all comers. Recall that David conducted the Ash Wednesday service this past February at The Harvester.

The service also consisted of a full communion that was optional for all in attendance. The United Methodist Hymnal provides the guidelines for this most sacred of christian rituals…to take the body and blood of Christ on this most holy of days, Good Friday…and as somber the death of Christ represents, there is also triumph and David Hill brought that message to a gathering of community faith.

David was also joined in the communion service by two local Methodist Ministers: Mark Pafford and Terry Little, both former pastors at Smithville First United Methodist Church who assisted in the communion service while Faye Fuqua played “Were You There” on a baby grand piano that resides at The Harvester. We are blessed to be here in Middle Tennessee and to live in DeKalb County so my hope is that we can all seek peace with one another and to love one another. That is the story of Jesus.

May your weekend be blessed and may the good Lord take a liking to you.

Happy Easter Everyone !
