Bert’s on Thursdays with the joey fletcher band

04.06.2023 - “Every day - every day I get the Blues”…I tell you what we DON'T get every day!  An evening of superb blues at the Harvester in Historic Downtown Smithville, TN, that’s got the “real deal groove” that makes even the slow songs become soaring entities.

Something else we don’t get every day is a band of seasoned pros who know how to control volume and dynamics to make the sound full and punchy without making our ears bleed, who have a selective repertoire that covers the classics, and then adds a very personalized Joey Fletcher rock-swamp element that rejuvenates those old “everyday” blues songs back up to “right now”, and makes them…“Timeless”.

Those are exactly the “groovy gifts” Joey Fletcher, Brandon Buck (drums), and Andrew Bennett (bass) brought to Bert’s on Thursdays Series at the Harvester on 4/6/23.

The spoiled (musically) crowd immediately sensed the fact they were listening to some of the greasiest, funkiest blues/rock players to ever wander into the Upper Cumberland music scene, and  honestly received more compliments on our choice of musical entertainment from our clientele than ever before for a group appearing for the first time on our stages.

Actually, I was knocked out even before Joey picked up his guitar when he told me his main influence musically was (my old friend) Jack Pearson - if you don’t know Jack (haha), do yourself a favor and Google him. Joey is a MUCH better student than me when it comes to picking up licks from Jack…and it shows!

Speaking of “the music scene” above, it’s very encouraging to see our friends and biz buds in Downtown Smithville starting to promote live music at their facilities, which created a really nice late afternoon ambiance for the Thursday’s monthly Shop Late-Shop Local event, before the music kicked off at 6:30 pm. Dining, unique shopping, live music…remind me again why we should drive to Nashville when we got all those high quality amenities right here at home!

Our guest artisans for the evening were SnapDragon Hemp (also a 2023 Burlap Room Outdoor Series Sponsor), and Tabitha Thierjung, Artist in Residence at Appalachian Center for Craft (very creative glass art - you need to see it in person!).

Special thank yous for the consistently great food from Tio’s Taco Truck, to the Security & /Bar Service Staff, Phil Stafford, Sound Engineer. Next up at Harvester/ Bert Driver’s Burlap Room: Comedy Night with JJ Barrows, Amber Autry, and Doug Sanders, and live music from Zack Montgomery on 4/13, Earth Day X on Saturday, 4/22, with Bee Taylor, Zion Stovall and “The Mojo Kingz”, an authentic taste of NOLA prepared by the Boil Bros. at the Burlap Room, Finally Fridays at the Harvester, 4/28, with Tom Tippin, and Bert’s on Thursdays at the Harvester, 5/4, with Cam Pierce and Craig Anderson, and our first theatrical performance with the Nashville Shakespeare Festival’s Education Experience Tour at the Harvester on Thursday, 5/18!
