Finally Fridays at the harvester with austin grimm

11.04.2022 - The Finally Fridays Series of musical events launched in exquisite manner at the Harvester Performance and Event Center located in Historic Downtown Smithville, TN.

With live music performances now scheduled for the first three Fridays in November, launching the limited series was indeed a winner - Austin Grimm, who hails originally from St. Louis, MO, wound up in Nashville at Belmont University, traveled nationally with his group Roots of a Rebellion (ROAR), and is now stretching his own musical boundaries.

His performance of a great selection of cover tunes (can’t go wrong w/Jim Croce!), along with several of his well-placed original songs were performed very well on a variety of instruments, using drum tracks and loops on some songs to achieve a sound much bigger and fuller than you’d think one person is capable of producing.

On more than one occasion during the evening, Austin was able to build up loops with full percussion and instruments, and then whipped out his melodica and played a melody on top of the groove bed he had created - a real crowd-pleaser, that Austin!

Here’s a quick insight into the type of thoughtful, caring person Austin Grimm is: Apparently his Dad was a musician, when Austin started playing as a teenager, he found an old post-it note stuck on his Dad’s old 12-string guitar that was a set list from when Austin’s Dad and Mom were dating (and his Dad was playing gigs).

Austin recorded all the songs on the list and gave the CD to his Mom & Dad on their 50th wedding anniversary - to me, that’s indicative of a very thoughtful individual, who’s capable of understanding and utilizing the God-given talents he possesses to bring joy to people’s lives.

Don’t sweat it if you missed Austin this time around, based on the response of the discerning listeners at the Harvester Center on our first Finally Fridays, I’m sure he will be returning soon!

It’s very gratifying to witness the Harvester, Downtown Smithville, and the Upper Cumberland region enjoying such a period of growth as more and more folks discover the area. On Friday, West Walnut Street was lively with folks “looking for something to do”. We are grateful for the eclectic crowd of people who have moved here, now have permanent homes, and are looking for the same level of amenities they enjoyed in larger cities. Just in the past couple of weeks, we have met folks from New Hampshire, Connecticut, New Orleans, Lexington, KY, and others- who all appreciate the natural beauty, laid-back vibes, and the efforts being made by the Harvester and all the other business owners and associates who are true believers in this region’s bright future.
