Finally Fridays with Alysha Nyx & the What Notz and Lauren Gottshall
07.28.2023 - Whew, it took almost the entire month to get over the 2023 Smithville Fiddlers’ Jamboree, and it went down in the record books as one of the biggest and best ever. Congrats to Kim Luton and the entire board of the Jamboree on an excellent turnaround - onward/upward!
But action at the Harvester Performance & Event Center in Historic Downtown Smithville was getting ready to crank up for the remainder of 2023 and beyond with new entertainment events, experiences, and some outstanding new business associates who have just opened for business in the Casablanca Office Suites, next door to the Harvester.
The new enterprises are: House of Homage owned by artist Hannah Hacker, and featuring some of the best tattoo art anywhere.
Also bringing west coast state-of-the-art upscale salon artistry is new business Alchemy Salon, owned and operated by Eschelle Nunley. Check out both these talented entrepreneurs and see the unique products and services they have to offer our community - both businesses operate on an “appointment only” basis.
A good turnout of friends/fans helped crank the Harvester out of the hot summer doldrums with two excellent performers - opener for the evening was Lauren Gottshall, a young lady we became acquainted with during February’s Tennessee Songwriter’s Competition Qualifying Round held at the Harvester. Her set was a combination of self-penned compositions sprinkled in between real “crowd-pleaser covers” by Carrie Underwood and other icons (not many vocalists can come close to Carrie’s unbelievable range with precise pitch, but Lauren handled it all with ease).
“We built this city on rock and roll”...and that’s exactly what Alysha Nyx and the What Notz brought to the Harvester crowd – with an emphasis on 80’s rock but capable of viable rock across several spectrums, Alysha Nyx and her What Notz are indeed a fine example of “melt your face” rock and roll. It was a good ole rockin’ night at the Harvester…there will ALWAYS be a soft spot in our hearts and souls for the “read-deal rockers” - and that definitely includes Alysha Nyx and the What Notz. Members of the band were from Texas, Connecticut, Wisconsin, and Alabama.
Tabitha Theirjung was onsite for the evening with her unique Art in Glass designs (I’m looking at one of her groovy vase creations that has a forever home on my mantle right now!).
Tio’s Taco Truck added their authentic Mexican food to compliment the festivities - as always, thanks to the fantastic security and bar service staff who take it as a personal challenge to ensure your Harvester experience is special. Hey did you get to taste a new signature cocktail by our bar staff?! – it’s called “Harvest Moon” and from the smiles all around, the new craft cocktail with European influence and style with a Southern twist of ever-so-sweet taste to make you smile and say, “mmmmmm I’ll have another Harvest Moon” upon your return to the Harv. In fact, when you rent the Harvester for any event large or small, we can create signature drinks for your guests…yes, remember that the Harvester and the adjoining Casablanca building are available rent. There are two office suites available now located at 208 West Main next to the Harvester - contact Bert directly at 931-1235-0531 to inquire about either property .
Up next…we head back to the Burlap Room on Saturday, 8/12, for our fifth annual Hemp Fest with LadyCouch and Damian C (special thanks to our 📢 Platinum Sponsor Cumberland Cannabis Co - they’ll be on site for Hemp Fest V with their high quality products and a pop-up dab bar for 21+ attendees!), and stay tuned…all the info on October’s Día de los Muertos/Day of the Dead with Captain Midnight Band on Saturday, 10/7, is coming soon!
