Bert’s on Thursday at the Harvester with Seth Willoughby

10.06.2022 - It was another beautiful early fall, late afternoon and evening in Historic Downtown Smithville, TN, with lots of bustle as folks from near and far checked out the eclectic downtown merchants on their Shope Late & Shop Local event that occurs on the first Thursday of every month.

One of the more exciting Downtown Smithville businesses to open most recently is Ace’s Restaurant, which I predict is going to be a primary destination for local folks and visitors alike who appreciate the finer things in life–they’re going to become instant fans of Ace’s truly world-class cuisine served in a beautifully renovated building on West Walnut Street in downtown Smithville (only steps from the Harvester Event Center).  Ace’s restaurant in Boca Raton FL was not only a staple for the local Floridians, but a gathering place for some of the biggest stars in the entertainment industry during the Burt Reynolds/Sally Field/Jackie Gleason/Jerry Reed era. Ace has “been there-done that, and has the fridge magnet” when it comes to running five-star restaurants!

Whether it’s restaurants, food trucks, antique shops, artists, musicians, craftspeople, we here at the Harvester are giant fans of “authenticity”...it’s that simple, yet so often overlooked factor, that makes a product and service feel “real” and “comfortable” - and makes that product stand out among all the “wannabes” that we’re all swamped with daily…which brings me to Seth Willoughby’s performance at the Harvester Performance on Thursday evening.

It was “Seth and his guitar only” onstage and “authentic” was the first word that came to mind listening to him perform the well-selected, audience-appropriate Americana songs in his repertoire.

The second descriptor was “solid”, and it’s obvious that Seth is a strong conduit of music and vibe - the fact that he feels and enjoys the music as much as his audience is a solid base from which to launch musical excursions such as the somewhat obscure “Seminole Wind” by John Anderson – which becomes a standout live performance when you add that “Seth Willoughby factor” of authenticity.  Seth was the first musician/artist to ever perform at the Harvester, and continues to bring his multi-talents to our “lovers of music” community.  Carry on, Seth…Solid!

Big talent, big doins in Historic Downtown Smithville, and big memorable fun times at the Harvester - can you believe it??!!
