This installment of Bert's on Thursday features live music by Jordan Morack and the MTSUniverse, a hot jazz group filled with exuberant talent. Expect to hear the MTSUniverse play hard driving jazz music. Gates open at 5pm. Music starts at 6pm. Admission is $10.

JORDAN MORACK’S MTSUNIVERSE

Jordan Chase Morack is currently an active performer and educator in the greater Nashville area. Jordan is a saxophonist, clarinetist, and flautist and is fluent in many styles including rock, pop, R&B, jazz, and classical performance. Jordan has been a sideman for various live performances, and recordings throughout Tennessee. He is currently the leader of the Jordan Morack Trio and Quintet, he is the saxophonist and organ player for the Upper Cumberland All-Stars, and he is the saxophonist for the Bops Jazz Quartet. Jordan serves as a contracted musician with the Cumberland County Playhouse where he performs over 100 shows per year. Throughout his career, Jordan has been given the opportunity to perform with musical Icons across many genres including, Joey Kibble, James Curnow, Wycliffe Gordon, Duffy Jackson, Roger Humphreys, Phillip Sparke, and Steve Wilson. Jordan now serves as a contracted musician with the Cumberland County Playhouse where he performs over 100 shows per year. Currently Jordan is still recording, practicing and performing. His upcoming performance on April 15 will be his final performance as an MTSU student and will be the culmination of his time studying there. He will earn his degree in jazz studies from MTSU in May.

Bill Alexson is a pianist and composer based in Nashville, TN. He completed a B.M. in Commercial Music at Belmont University and an M.M. in Jazz Studies at the New England Conservatory of Music. He has competed at national and international events, winning Second Prize at both the American Jazz Pianist Competition and the Jacksonville Jazz Piano Competition. In addition to performing and composing, he serves on the piano and music theory faculty of the Conservatory of Annie Moses.

Joshua Cook is currently a junior at Middle Tennessee State University. He is a jazz studies major. His hometown is Cincinnati, OH and he has been playing jazz since the 8th grade. He has recently earned the jazz 1 principal chair position. He aspires to be a jazz, funk, r&b touring musician.

Bassist Jackson Mayhall is a freelance musician, composer, and teacher from Nashville, Tennessee. Being influenced by artists like Art Blakey, Herbie Hancock, and Wayne Shorter, Mayhall seeks to bring swing music and jazz together with the music of the present. His versatile playing on both upright and electric bass has allowed him to perform with a variety of musicians including Duffy Jackson, Roger Humphries, Billy Strings, the Kruger Brothers, Roy Agee, and more.
