the Harvester Premiere with the Smoky Nights
05.20.2022 - Well, it’s in the books! There’s only one official Premiere Night at the Harvester Performance and Event Center, and if you’re one of the lucky folks who attended, you know exactly what I’m talking about. Sleepy ol’ downtown Smithville has never seen such a sight on a Friday Night that doesn’t have the Jamboree going on (…more on that later)! Our newly-opened space featured many landscaping plants directly from Bert Driver Nursery, and we could not have asked for more perfect weather on the late May evening, with the Main Street garage doors opened, they created an atmosphere like no other!
And who was chosen to officially launch the Harvester Concert Series?! Why, The Smoky Nights, of course! This group of highly skilled songwriters, musicians, and vocalists have been pleasing their growing legion of Upper Cumberland fans for several years now, and The Smoky Nights keep getting better, honing their musical and stage performing skills to an ever-higher level, and never ceasing to move the audience with their varied repertoire.
It was especially appropriate that Bert Driver, when introducing The Smoky Nights for their performance, took a few minutes to recognize and thank the many artists and craftsmen who contributed to the vision he had many years ago for the old Harvester International Equipment Dealership building.
For the Bert Driver team, that dream came finally true on Friday. Thank you to every single person who was a part of the evening – we are especially grateful for our top-notch staff – security, bartenders, sound crew, and everyone behind the scenes that has been a part of this adventure. Dang, it’s really fun when dreams come true–here’s to many more fabulous nights to come at the Harvester Performance & Event Center!
The evening was attended by a select group of vendors, following the tradition of Bert Driver’s penchant for high-quality, unique art products. Crooked Creek Designs (handmade originally designed jewelry), Art in Wood, (excellent hand-made and functional leather art products), and LoosedTea (organic, specialty-blended teas, kava, and other concoctions for brewing at home). Our friend and super-stylist Kobe was on hand offering free haircuts again. Premiere Night food vendors included Grace’s Lumpia, Kirby’s Donuts and More, Pearce’s Popcorn, and our own team’s Tio’s Taco Truck. The Harvester’s new neighbor/sponsor/ friend David Webber, who recently opened the new office of Limestone Title and Escrow, was the exclusive sponsor of Premiere Night, and took our gathering as an opportunity to introduce his family, company, and business associates to Smithville and the Upper Cumberland folks. Thank you for your support, David - Welcome to the “local vibe” – you already fit right in! And last but not least, a huge thank you to everyone that came out and shared an incredible evening with us – we couldn’t have done it without you!
The fun times continue this coming Thursday, May 26, 2022 with Nick Cross at the Burlap Room, followed by Trey Brinkley at the Harvester on Thursday, June 2, 2022 (which is also Downtown Smithville’s monthly Shop Late-Shop-Local night). Stay tuned for exciting news about the Harvester’s offerings for the weekend of Smithville’s 51st Annual Fiddlers’ Jamboree Celebration, including a warm-up “JamboEVE” Concert on Thursday June 30, 2022.
