BURLAP WILLOW CIGAR CLUB FEATURING MTSUNIVERSE

Here’s proof that we are indeed living in a wonderful, new world. Last night in Smithville, TN in the Solstice Stage greenhouse at Bert Driver’s Burlap Room every seat in the house was filled, plus some standing/dancing Burlappers….all listening to first-rate live mainstream jazz, sipping on their favorite top-shelf adult beverages, enjoying authentic Greek cuisine,  puffing on a fine cigar while visiting with some great new neighbors who just moved to our Center Hill area from Chicago, San Diego, Nashville. 

From this ole Tennessee boy’s perspective that last statement almost needs to be written again in all caps- with exclamation points and maybe fireworks emojis. What? Where? Smithville, Tennessee? No Way!

Well compadre, in this new world of ours, that was indeed the reality of an ultra-cool scene last night at the closing Burlap Willow Cigar Night of the 2021 Bert’s on Thursday live music series.   Jordan Morack’s MTSUniverse players brought all their “stuff” and intuitively knew when to rock us, and when to provide the perfect ambiance for some close-up conversation with those around us. 

And, there was a LOT of conversation about the very talented and accomplished musicians who accompanied Jordan for this Button Willow event.   

Vocalist Kaleah Wooten, Pianist/Composer Bill Alexson, Drummer Joshua Cook, and Bassist Jackson Mayall were superb, as each one took the opportunity to impress us all as individual players, and with their ability to meld into the ensemble.   

Many thanks to Joe and Angela Brown from The Button Willow in downtown Smithville for being our very supportive partner for the Burlap Willow Cigar Night 2021 Series and to the Greek Station and Tio’s Taco Truck for providing excellent food for the Bert’s on Thursday events. 

Also, our sincere thanks goes out to every single Burlapper (you and we  know who you are), attendee, sponsor, vendor, food provider, friends & family that made 2021’s Thursdays Series the best yet.  We’re all counting on 2022 to be even bigger/better for ALL OF US  here in the amazing Upper Cumberland...stay tuned.
