Advent Service at the Harvester

12.13.2023 - Peace, Hope, Love, and Joy…with the greatest being Love!

As the sun sank below the horizon, a warm glow emanated from The Harvester as parishioners gathered to observe the Season of Advent Service co-hosted by The Smithville First United Methodist Church, Keltonburg United Methodist Church, and Webbs Chapel United Methodist all part of The Methodist Charge here in Smithville, Tennessee. Visitors enjoyed fresh brewed local coffee as everyone settled in for the evening.

Seth Willougbhy set the tone as he rotated from gospel hymns to Christmas music with style and grace which set the tone of relaxed and joyous  warmth and anticipation of the Advent season. Families and friends came together, sharing smiles and exchanging warm greetings.

The service, led by Minister David Hill, with his heartfelt words and deep understanding of the Advent season, guided those in attendance on a spiritual journey.  He spoke of hope, love, joy, and peace, and how these themes are represented by the lighting of the Advent Wreath;  how they intertwine with the story of the birth of Jesus Christ. His message was both enlightening and inspiring, reminding everyone of the true meaning of Christmas. David also conducted the service of Holy Communion for all of those in attendance.

The Harvester was all decked out in Holiday Decor and provided the perfect backdrop for this special evening. As attendees gathered in the spacious hall, the soft glow of candlelight and as the evening came to a close, The Harvester was filled with a sense of peace and contentment. The Advent service had touched the hearts of all who attended, leaving them with a renewed sense of hope and a deeper understanding of the true spirit of Christmas. The season also reminds us how truly blessed we are to live here and have the freedom to worship as we see fit. Again, the reminder of being the light in a sometimes dark world is our purpose to share the good news that peace, hope, joy and love will triumph.

Thanks to Phillip, our sound engineer and to the wonderful members of the United Methodist Church for assisting in the Advent Service.
