Earth Day VIII featuring The Stolen Faces
Mother Nature was the ultimate headliner during the Earth Day VIII Celebration at Bert Driver’s Burlap Room, as 300+ brave souls endured a chilly and sometimes wet Saturday evening with us at the Gateway to the Upper Cumberland and we’re mighty glad they did!
All attendees were handed a free, small red oak or dogwood tree as they came through the gate and then they entered an immersive nursery wonderland. Multiple fire pits were enjoyed by all on this chilly, spring evening. Bubbles from the Pizza Machine danced through the air as the bands played inside the greenhouse on the Solstice Stage. A photo booth was set up in another greenhouse where people could get a commemorative Earth Day VIII photo to take with them. Adults, kids and their dogs enjoyed the amazing setting where they could roam free to look at the trees, plants, local vendors, or just sit and enjoy the sights and sounds of the spring evening.
Thanks to vendor/partners, Center Hill Realty and Chalets, Cedar City RV, Greenwave Solar, One Stop Soul Shop, Quarter Springs Farms, Dekalb Animal Shelter, Glass artist Tabitha Thierjung from Appalachian Center for Craft, The Pizza Machine, Tio’s Taco Truck for your participation and support!
Josh Driver and the Full Circle Band immediately heated things up on the Solstice Stage, with a heartfelt mixture of his own outstanding compositions such as “You’re so Cold”, and “I’m Not Normal”, along with a couple of obligatory Hank Jr. covers-also outstanding.
Josh handed the spotlight off to The Stolen Faces, a Nashville-based band of expert musicians, that includes Gabriel, the 13-year-old percussionist son of Christian, the bass player for the group. You can immediately sense “these guys are capable of playing any genre of music”, but they have chosen to perform the music of The Grateful Dead, and they do that extremely well. The Stolen Faces prompted one of the most enthusiastic responses from the Burlap Room audience yet.
