BERT’S ON THURSDAY: JAMES KEE

A sure cure for post-holiday letdown is three sixth’s of East Nash Grass! (Is that smaller than a fifth?).   Well, three-sixths is exactly what we had when James Kee (guitar),  Cory Walker, (banjo),  and Gaven Largent, (dobro) heated up the taphouse at Bert Driver’s Burlap Room during the 2022 opening salvo of Bert’s on Thursday Winter Music Series on Thursday 1/13.

These young men are ALL accomplished on their instruments, and delivered  heartfelt vocals with excellent harmonies that had the assembled Burlappers responding appropriately, going as far as providing spontaneous applause after a particularly impressive solo or virtuoso passage.   Whether it was a spot-on traditional “Fox on the Run”,  a rockin’ version of The Hag’s Workin’ Man Blues, or an original from their latest CD…..,  “This ain’t yo Momma’s bluegrass band”, and their unique blend of old and new feels lands someplace in between that’s really refreshing and a fun vibe for the purist or the casual bluegrass fan.

We are thrilled that James, Cory, and Gavin (and other equally talented regional performers)  enjoy playing live music at the Burlap Room- We love having them perform here, because they are a great example of the truly world-class musical talent that’s available right here in our own backyard….we Burlappers are so blessed in that regard!

Continuing in our  “excellent musician” tradition, Colton Rhody and Cody Purvis will be taking their turn on the next Bert’s onThursday coming up on 1/27/2022. Get your tickets now- they’re limited!
