Bert’s on Thursday: Emily Kidd, Griffin Winton, and Dayna Bee at the Harvester

08.04.2022 - So, just after sundown, when the heat of the afternoon has past, you leisurely stroll past quaint, unique shops loaded with antiques, culinary treats, oh-so-trendy chic fashions, etc. You keep strolling and wander into a live entertainment venue with music playing and folks lounging on the patio catching the afternoon breeze, enjoying craft beers on tap, and sampling excellent (authentic) Lao/Thai cuisine (Lao Mobile Kitchen).

After getting your food, you mosey towards the live music/concert space, which happens to be featuring three WAY above average young talented singer/songwriter/musicians that captivate you right away with their fresh, original and cover material, and their professional delivery of same.  So far, this little vignette of a great evening of entertainment could be set in LA, Denver, Minneapolis, or New Orleans… or just about any metro area of your choosing – but, it’s not.

This was REALITY in Smithville TN and their Downtown Merchants having their (first Thursday of each monthly) Shop Late-Shop Local event, and then concluding the evening at the Harvester!

The Harvester Performance and Event Center - that’s where Griffin Winton, Emily Kidd, and Dayna Bee performed a splendid mix of originally crafted songs, and special arrangements of some tasty cover material.  While watching the performance of these young pros, I became very aware that the Harvester Center has created a previously non-existent win-win-win situation for everyone lucky enough to be present on Thursday evening.

For the local and regional musicians, writers and artists who are trying to get a toehold in the entertainment world, having a venue such as the Harvester in which to present their art is a true blessing! For the venue’s existing and potential patrons: they have the pleasure of hearing and seeing the very best talent our local and regional areas have to offer, along with groups who have broken through to higher echelons of the music world.

And finally, for the staff and management of the Harvester - we all get to be a part of something truly new and exciting, put smiles on a big bunch of people’s faces (musicians and patrons), and more importantly, we get to Keep on Rockin’! Thanks to all our entertainers, sponsors, vendors, patrons, and supporters for allowing us to do just that!

Up next at the Burlap Room is the Outlaw Country Review with Cody Purvis and Friends on Saturday, August 6 - come re-live some of the music that changed the entire landscape of the country music industry! Middle of Somewhere Hemp Fest IV with Magnolia Boulevard happens on Saturday, August 20 (where all the movers and shakers in the hemp/CBD industry in our expanded region will be exhibiting their wares and sharing their expertise about the changes taking place in this exciting industry), then Comedy Night at the Harvester with Headliner Caleb Elliott, Opener Marie Cecile Anderson, and Host Amber Autry, on Thursday, August 25, and closing out August is Michelle Poe, Ken Taylor, and Russ Freeman at the Harvester on Saturday, August 27!  Stay up-to-date with all the events in the Bert Driver Network (Nursery, Burlap Room, and the newly-opened Harvester Event Center) by signing up for our Burlapper Newsletter.
