Fourth Annual Art Walk in Downtown Smithville

09.19.2025 - On a beautiful Friday evening in September, the Harvester Event Center, in collaboration with the shops of Historic Downtown Smithville, proudly hosted the Fourth Annual Art Walk. This year, we brought back the beloved Marguerite Beane and the Midnight Ramblers, a talented jazz quartet that includes the remarkable Marguerite and the distinguished David Copper, who flew in from New York to grace our event. Their performance was a delightful testament to the rich musical heritage thriving in Middle Tennessee.

Having roots in our Burlap Room days, where we’ve hosted numerous talented students and jazz bands, it was a joy to see the strong connections we’ve fostered over the years with local musicians and educational institutions, including Belmont University, Berklee College of Music, New England Conservatory, Tennessee Tech University, and Middle Tennessee State University. Each partnership has enriched our community's cultural fabric, and last night was no exception, as Marguerite and her band set the perfect tone against the backdrop of Smithville's charming streets.

As we transformed College and Walnut Streets into a pedestrian-friendly, European-style street fair, the atmosphere was electric. Nearly 40 artists and craft vendors showcased their original works, while local restaurants opened their doors and food trucks like Big Daddy’s Bites catered to the crowd. The Harvester served as a full bar, with Carrington and Tristan ensuring our guests had an unforgettable experience.

A special shout-out to David Judkins and Armando for their assistance in setting up the stages, and immense gratitude to Randy Caldwell at The Purple Door and Sherry Elkins with Rocky Jane. Their dedication to curating the event and bringing together exceptional artists truly made it shine. Additionally, we thank Amy Allen at the Legacy House for her collaboration in making this event a success.

We couldn't have achieved such a magnificent event without the support of First Bank, especially Casey Midgett, who has continuously backed the arts in our community. Their presence and involvement have been vital for downtown Smithville, making events like the Art Walk possible. The community spirit was palpable as we celebrated the arts, delighting in the lively atmosphere filled with music, laughter, and camaraderie.

The Art Walk was an opportunity to appreciate the unique eccentricities of Smithville, a town characterized by its vibrant community spirit. Surrounded by the beautiful Center Hill Lake and the scenic Caney Fork River Valley, we were reminded of the artistic soul that runs deep in our region.

With Marguerite Beane's jazz wafting through the streets and the tantalizing aromas of food and drinks blending in the air, the evening became a celebration of our shared passions. We embraced our community and welcomed both new and longtime residents, all enjoying the warmth and charm that Smithville offers.

A heartfelt thank you to the City of Smithville, Public Works, Director Kevin Robinson, and local law enforcement for their cooperation and support in making this event a safe and enjoyable experience. We also appreciate the First Baptist Church for their help in securing parking and blocking off streets, as well as all the merchants on West Walnut for their participation.

This event reaffirmed our pride in Smithville and the collaborative spirit that makes us a remarkable place to live. With perfect weather and an evening filled with culture and connection, we look forward to continuing this tradition in the years to come. Here’s to celebrating art, music, and community together in beautiful Smithville!
