Comedy Night with Aaron Weber, Morgan Gallo, and Brad Sativa

03.03.2023 - From the “headlines you never thought you’d see department” - Harvester Performance & Event Center, located in Historic Downtown Smithville, TN welcomed all to their fifth edition of Comedy Night on Thursday, 3/2/23 with current nationally touring live comedians!

Let’s take a moment and let that sink in…Not Vegas, not even Nashville or Franklin, but Smithville(!).

Leave it to Bert Driver and his excellent staff to bring different and exciting entertainment experiences to Smithville and the Upper Cumberland Playland inhabitants. There’s always a contingent of first-time, out-of-towners who are surprised to find the variation of types of “high quality art” that the Harvester and Burlap Room present to their patrons on a year-round basis.

Comedy Night is no exception to that “outside-the-box” philosophy - it’s been a truly interesting and entertaining experience to watch the Harvester show attendees from the first through the fifth live comedy performances, as they begin to loosen up and interact more and more with the comedy performers (in “good-natured spirit of humor”- which the comedians absolutely LOVE).

This round of comedians rounded up by our Comedy Guru, Amber Autry, included Brad Sativa, a Nashville Based Comedian/Actor, at Bonnaroo Music Festival (2019), Nashville Comedy Festival (2018-2022), and many other comedy credits.

Brad Sativa (“African-American, with white boy’s name”) is from Milan, TN…how bout this for serendipity? There was some random dude in the crowd who is also from Milan, which Brad discovered during his comedy set turns out, he knew all the guy’s family member’s names – very funny impromptu bit…and very coincidental (really!).

Also featured was Morgan Gallo, a young powerhouse of a comedian based in Orlando, FL. Originally from Colorado, the last few years of her life have contributed tremendously to her start in comedy - from coming out as bisexual, to being laid off and touring nationally, her performances are ever evolving. You can see her in comedy festivals and clubs across the US, as well as on her weekly game show style podcast, Let's Fight About It.

Morgan was warmly received by the assembled crowd, and certainly provided a different perspective than any other comedian performer we’ve hosted in the past…but, that’s sorta “what we do”.

The headliner for the evening was Aaron Weber - a standup comedian based in Nashville, TN. He is a regular performer at the Grand Ole Opry, making his debut in 2019 at the age of twenty-seven. Aaron is the youngest standup comedian ever to step into the Opry circle. Later that year, he made his television debut on the Opry’s Circle Network, hosting two episodes of Stand Up Nashville. In 2021, Aaron was named a "New Face" at the prestigious Just For Laughs comedy festival.

You can hear Aaron on The Nateland Podcast with Nate Bargatze and Brian Bates.

Of course, Tio’s Taco Truck was on hand doin’ what they do best- Authentic Mexican Food.  Bueno, Tio, Bueno!! Again, thanks to the pro staff of the Harvester - The Harvester Center is a special place, because you are special people!

So, in closing dear friend, did you hear the one about this crazy dude and his gang that wanted to bring live comedy shows to Smithville, TN?...Stay tuned for Comedy Night #6 at the Harvester on April 13 - lineup coming soon!

Next up at the Harvester is an evening of Irish blue grass at Finally Fridays St. Patrick’s Day Celebration with the John Boulware Trio on 3/17, and two separate events to benefit the DCHS Band: DCHS Fighting Tiger Band Jazz Ensemble Benefit Concert on 3/23 and a 1920's Spring Formal with Beasley Court Big Band on 3/25, and (just announced this week) over at the Burlap Room is our 10th Annual Earth Day on Saturday, 4/22, with Bee TaylorZion Stovall and “The Mojo Kingz”, an authentic taste of NOLA prepared by the Boil Bros., craft beverages, vendors, and more!
